Quang Tri welcomes first flight from Cam Ranh
On the afternoon of August 16, 2026, Quang Tri Province welcomed the first flight from Cam Ranh, Khanh Hoa, to Dong Hoi Airport, operated by SunPhu Quoc Airways. This marked an important milestone in expanding the province's air connectivity, strengthening links between Quang Tri and Khanh Hoa and the South Central Coast region, while creating new opportunities for tourism, trade, and investment development.

The welcoming ceremony was attended by Mr. Tran Vu Khiem, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Mr. Hoang Xuan Tan, Member of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; and representatives of relevant provincial departments, agencies, and units. Notably, among the passengers on the first flight from Cam Ranh to Dong Hoi was Mr. Tran Phong, Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee, along with a delegation from Khanh Hoa Province.

Carrying the message “Connecting Heritage - Reaching the Blue Sea”, the first flight provides a more convenient travel option for visitors from Khanh Hoa and southern provinces to Quang Tri. Direct air connectivity with Khanh Hoa, one of the major tourism hubs in the South Central Coast region, will enable Quang Tri to access domestic and international visitor markets via Cam Ranh International Airport, while promoting the province's distinctive tourism products to a broader market.

Quang Tri and Khanh Hoa have complementary tourism strengths. While Khanh Hoa is well known for its beaches, islands, and resort tourism, Quang Tri has strengths in heritage, historical and revolutionary tourism, ecotourism, and nature-based exploration, including the cave system and landscapes of Phong Nha - Ke Bang. Direct connectivity between the two localities creates favorable conditions for developing inter-regional tours, routes, and experiential programs, diversifying tourism products, and extending visitors' length of stay.

In addition to tourism connectivity, the new air route will create further opportunities for businesses in the two localities to strengthen investment and trade promotion, showcase products, conduct market research, and seek business partners.
The Cam Ranh - Dong Hoi route is operated by Sun PhuQuoc Airways with a frequency of three round trips per week, on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Flights from Cam Ranh to Dong Hoi depart at 2:05 p.m. and arrive in Dong Hoi at 3:30 p.m.; flights from Dong Hoi to Cam Ranh depart at 12:05 p.m. and arrive in Cam Ranh at 1:25 p.m.

To mark the launch, the airline is offering a 30% discount on base fares for groups of two or more passengers booking Economy Lite and Economy Classic fares. The promotion applies to tickets booked from August 15 to October 5, 2026, for journeys departing no later than October 31, 2026.
The launch of the Cam Ranh - Dong Hoi route will contribute to expanding Quang Tri's air connectivity network, increasing access to visitor markets, and creating further momentum for tourism, trade, and investment linkages between Quang Tri, Khanh Hoa, and southern localities.
