Effective implementation of Minutes of 19th meeting of nine provinces from Vietnam - Laos - Thailand using roads No.8 and No.12

 (Quang Binh Portal) - Implementing the Minutes of the 19th Summit of nine provinces from Vietnam - Laos - Thailand using roads No.8 and No.12 signed on December 21st, 2015 in Thakhek town, Khammouane (Laos), in the past time, Quang Binh has effectively implemented the signed contents and achieved remarkable achievements.

With regard to education and training, culture, sport and tourism, Quang Binh University has continued maintaining cooperation relations with the universities of Thailand. In 2016, the university has received Thai students to study Vietnamese language and Vietnam's culture; welcomed the delegation from the Thailand's university to attend some actitivities to mark the 57th anniversary of building and development, the 10th anniversary of establishment of Quang Binh University. In the 2016-2017 academic year, the province has also received 35 Lao students and 02 cadres, 08 Thai students to study in Quang Binh; organized a student meeting on the occasion of the National Day and Lunar New Year, aiming to boost good relation between Lao students and Vietnamese teachers and students.

Besides, the province has also conitnued supporting budget for Khammouane province to build classrooms at the Quang Binh - Khammouane Friendship School; organized the 1st open traditional boat race competition of Quang Binh province with Laos and Thailand from July 13th - 17th, 2016; coordinated and created conditions for Nakhon Phanom to host a cycle program and tourism promotion in Thailand.

With regard to trade and investment, the province has established a delegation to investment promotion in Thailand; attended the 2016 trade fair between the border provinces of the Greater Mekong Sub-region; worked with the enterprises of some northeastern Thailand provinces, Chulalongkorn University and Nakhon Phanom University to Quang Binh for seeking more opportunities for cooperation, investment and trade according to the Program of nine provinces from Vietnam - Laos and Thailand along the East-West Economic Corridor (EWEC), so on.

In particular, Quang Binh province has created favorable conditions for the Lao Petro Company, Limited to implement the project of building a bonded warehouse and an oil pipeline system from Hon La seaport, Quang Binh province (Vietnam) to Khammouane province (Laos) with a total investment of USD680 million; the green-coal production plant of the Quang Binh Export-Import Company in Thakhek town, Khammouane province.

In 2016, there were 478,335 passengers and 163,591vehicles for exit and entry via the Cha Lo International Boder Gate. Total turnovers for exit and entry via the Cha Lo International Border Gate and the Ca Roong Border Gate achieved approximately USD1.9 billion. The province has also held the interdisciplinary meeting and agreed to create all favorable conditions for all vehicles for exit and entry via the Cha Lo - Na Phau Border Gate.

In the coming time, Quang Binh continues boosting cooperation and exchange on training cardes, teachers and students between the provinces, aiming to improve skills of Viet, Lao and Thai languages; strengthening cultural and sport exchanges, especially the anniversaries and important events of Vietnam, Laos and Thailand; actively sharing information, promoting values of history, culture, arts, attractive destinations of each locality; expanding connection with the travel companies of the nine provinces from three countries in order to promote tourism development.

In the other hand, the province will coordinate and assist in popularizing potentials and strengths, call upon cooperation and investment of the nine provinces, further cooperation on trade development in border areas, have a close collaboration to simplify administrative procedures in border gate areas.

Besides, the province continues suggesting the government of Vietnam, Laos and Thailand to quickly sign a Memmorandum of Understanding on adding the Roads No.8 and No.12 on the terriority of Vietnam and Laos to the Protocol No.1 of the Agreement on facilitating passenger and goods transport between the Greater Mekong Sub-region countries (GMS - CBTA Agreement); speed sup the construction progress of the Friendship Bridge No.5 between Bueng Kan and Bolykhamsay, creates conditions to exchange and cooperate goods transport acrossing the Roads No.8 and No.12 to the Vung Ang Industry Park (Ha Tinh province), Hon La (Quang Binh province) and the third country.

Besides, in order to boost cooperation between all levels and agencies of each province, Quang Binh also creates conditions for the State agencies to exchange and share experience.
