According to the report of the Department of Planning and Investment, the province’s socio-economic situation in May and five beginning months of 2015 has stabilized and developed.

Accordingly, the area under cultivation for Spring-winter crop was 54,711.5 hectare, grew by 0.8% from the same period last year. Rubber latex production reached 280 tons, rose 10.1%. Exploited wood production was 59,650 m3 and fishery production reached 6,831 tons. Industrial production index rose 15.9% from the same period last year. Total retail sales of consumer goods reached VND6,321 billion, rose 7.9%. Export turnover reached USD12.1 million, import reached USD8.5 million. The number of tourists to Quang Binh reached 326.800, rose 7.4% from the same period last year.

In May, the province also granted certificate of business registration to 45 enterprises with a total registered capital of VND193.6 billion. Total budget revenues in five beginning months of 2015 reached VND1,026 billion, up by 20% from the same period last year. A lot of positive changes have seen in health, education and training, science and technology, culture, sport and tourism, healthcare, security and national defence.

Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee speaks at the meeting

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee asked all agencies and localities to focus on some main tasks in the coming time, including: harvest Spring-winter crop and produce summer-autumn crop as scheduled; take effective measures against drought, forest fire and epidemic diseases for cattle and poultry; strengthen food hygience and environmental sanitation; support building of iron-covered vessels for off-shore fishing to fishermen; speed up implementation of national target program on new rural development.

Chairman said that all agencies should pay attention to solutions to deal with difficulties for enterprises; urgently complete site compensation and clearance for the project of upgrading and expanding National Highway No.1.

Besides, Chairman aslo required relevant units to review and complete the contents to prepare for investment promotion conference and tourism popularization of Quang Binh province which is held in July, 2015; strengthen State management on tourism activities to effectively exploit tourism potential of the province, especially cave tourism; focus on successfully organizing the cave festival for 2015.
