Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Do Quy Doan had a working session with Quang Binh

(Quang Binh Website) - The delegation of the Ministry of Information and Communications led by Deputy Minister Do Quy Doan paid an official visit and had a working session with the People’s Committee of Quang Binh province on November 21 2008.

Attending the working were Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Phan Lam Phuong; leader of Departments of Planning and Investment; Finance; Internal Affairs; Culture, Sport and Tourism; Science and Technology; Information and Communications; Propaganda and Training of Provincial Party Committee; Provincial Party Committee Secretariat; People’s Committee Secretariat; Television Station, Quang Binh Newspaper and some enterprises relating to the fields of post, telecommunications and publishing.

On behalf of the provincial leader, Director of Information and Communication Phan Xuan Vinh reported on activities of information and communication sector in the past time. To be a newly established department, despite of meeting difficulties, with the leading and direction of the Provincial Party Committee, People’s Committee and the great effort of cadres and civil-servants, the sector has been gained great achievements. The department coordinated with competent agencies to strengthen inspection of internet telephone service; supply internet service, post, express mail service and cable television; manage activities in the field of the press and publishing. The system of telecommunications infrastructure has been invested and developed strongly. In 2008, turnover from telecommunications was estimated at VND286.2 billion, achieved 105.4% of the plan. Besides obtained results, the sector’s activity still faces many difficulties, namely the application of information technology in the State agencies has been low; there is a lack of human resource to apply information technology in the State agencies; as for some communes in far-flung and remote areas, telecommunications service has remained low.

Addressing the working, Deputy Minister Do Quy Doan highly evaluated the results gained by the province and Department of Information and Communications. He stress that the province should direct departments and branches to further promote and attach special importance to information technology. Especially, the Department of Information and Communications should pay much attention to building the strategy and the sector’s development planning in accordance with the province’s socio-economic development orientation; advise the province to build legal normative acts to further activity effectiveness in the assigned fields; concurrently promote application of information technology in the State management; speed up inspection and infringement settlement; strengthen the role of state management in the fields of the press, publishing, telecommunications and internet..., expand human resource training, build a staff to meet the demand of information technology in the process of innovation.
