Sum up the project ''Assistance for the poor to overcome the consequences of floods in the Central region of Vietnam''

(Quang Binh Website) - The Quang Binh Red Cross has recently held a summing-up meeting of the project "Assistance for the poor to overcome the consequences of floods in the Central region of Vietnam", funded by the Humanitarian Aid Department of the European Commission (ECHO) through the German Red Cross, the French Red Cross and the Netherlands Red Cross and the Vietnam Red Cross (Project ECHO).

The project has been carried out in nine communes of Le Thuy, Quang Trach and Tuyen Hoa districts from January to June 2011 with a total expense of over VND7 billion. After nearly six months of implementation, the project has timely distributed relief goods to flood victims. Concretely, the project has allocated nearly VND1.5 billion in cash to 1,143 households, water filter to 2,180 households, 56,232 kg of rice seeds to 3,338 households, 263,250 kg of fertilizer to 6,164 households, 164 cows and 90 water containers.

The project not only brings economic benefits to flood victims to quickly overcome difficulties in the between-crop period, but also provides them with seed, fertilizer and other necessities to improve the livelihood.

Addressing the meeting, Ms. Tran Thi Kim Nga, deputy head of the Provincial Department of Public Relations expressed her thanks for assistance of the donors and the Red Cross Society of Germany, France, the Netherlands and Vietnam.

 

Granting Certificate of Merit to three collective for their excellent achievements

On this occasion, the Quang Binh Red Cross awarded Certificate of Merit to three collectives of the Red Cross Society of Duc Hoa commune (Tuyen Hoa), Quang Tan commune (Quang Trach) and Lien Thuy commune (Le Thuy) for their excellent achievements in implementing the objectives of the project.
