21st summit of nine provinces from Vietnam - Laos - Thailand using road No.8 and road No.12 in Nong Khai, Thailand

 (Quang Binh Portal) - From January 17 - 19, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People"s Committee Le Minh Ngan led the delegation of Quang Binh province to attend the 21st summit of nine provinces from Vietnam - Laos - Thailand using road No.8 and road No.12 in Nong Khai, Thailand.

During the past years, the Association of nine provinces from Vietnam, Laos and Thailand using road No.8 and road No.12, including Ha Tinh, Nghe Anh, Quang Binh (Vietnam); Bolykhamsay, Khammouane (Laos); Nakhon Phanom, Sakon Nakhon, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan (Thailand), have closely coordinated and obtained many remarkable achievements in the fields of trade, education, culture, science and technology, transport, agriculture, sports and tourism, contributing to tightening a friendly and cooperative relation between the three countries for a peace, stability and development in the region.

At the meeting, participants focused on evaluating the obtained results as well as restrictions and difficulties of the Association of nine provinces from the three countries using road No.8 and road No.12 and having effective solutions to promote a comprehensive cooperation and sustainable development between the sides.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Quang Binh Provincial People's Committee Le Minh Ngan thanked for warm reception and briefly informed of socio-economic situation of Quang Binh province in the past time as well as the province's preferential policies to attract investments and key products in agriculture and tourism, aiming to call upon more investors and enterprises in the Association to Quang Binh.

With many advantages of geography and transport; the supports from the government of the three countries and the authorities of nine provinces as well as the efforts and dynamics of the enterprises, in the forthcoming time, cooperation in trade and socio-economic development will be boosted and developed between the three countries in general and the nine provinces in particular, Vice Chairman Le Minh Ngan stressed.

On this occastion, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also offered the governments of Vietnam, Laos, Thailand to upgrade the route from Laos to Cha Lo International Border Gate; renovate the procedures for exit and entry; create favorable conditions for enterprises to develop trade in the nine provinces; strengthen popularisation of the international air route between Chiang Mai and Dong Hoi, etc.

In the framework of the meeting, on the evening of January 17th, the delegation of nine provinces from the three countries attended an opening ceremony of “Nong Khai Best to Asean Trade Fail 2018” fair with the participation of 100 booths, including two booths from the enterprises of Quang Binh province, displaying local specialities.

On the morning of January 18th, the enterprises from nine provinces had a talk to popularise their products and signed a cooperative agreement in trade and tourism.

In the afternoon, leaders of nine provinces from Thailand, Laos and Vietnam using road No.8 and road No.12 agreed and signed a Memmorandum of Understanding for the 21st cooperation in the fields of economy, culture and society with a focus on urging the governments of Vietnam, Laos and Thailand to quickly complete proceedings for opening fixed passenger transport route from Bangkok - Nakhon Phanom - Thakhek - Ha Tinh; the Ministry of Transport of the three countries to sign the MoU on adding road No.8 and No.12 in the territory of Vietnam and Laos into Protocol No.1 of the GMS - CBTA Agreement, creating favorable conditions for passenger and cargo transport via the border area between the Greater Mekong Subregion countries; encouraging and facilitating the exchange and cooperation among transport companies of the three countries in carrying goods through road No.8 and road.12 to the Industrial Parks of Hon La (Quang Binh province), Vung Ang (Ha Tinh province) and Cua Lo (Nghe An province) and the third country.

It was known that the 22nd summit of nine province from Vietnam, Laos, Thailand using road No.8 and road No.12 will be held in Ha Tinh province (Vietnam).
