Quang Binh residents face serious flood
Torrential downpour hindered provision of foodstuff to residents in Son Trach commune in district Bo Trach. Tens of people on houses roofs were waiting for the help of the province’s Army Command.
Over 2,000 households in the commune were submerged in the flood, their food was swept away and people had to drink rain water.
Tran Cong Thuat, Quang Binh’s People’s Committee ordered an urgent assistance to flood victims by all means.
Receiving instant noodle packets from the government, resident Tran Van Quy closed to tear. However, everything in his house was drifted away; he must eat the food raw.
Meantime Quang Binh called for assistance of the Ministry of Defense as district Minh Hoa is still separated and no means of transport could access the district. The ministry has sent two helicopters to bring 10.5 tons of instant noodle packets, clean water and dried food to the separated district which was isolated five days.
The highway 1A was submerged in 2 meter in floodwater. Flooded street clogged traffic in the highway. Eight trains were stranded in Dong Hoi station because railway tracks in Quang Binh were swept away.
