IFAD mission pays a working visit to Quang Binh

(Quang Binh Website) - On the morning of July 23, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Huu Hoai had a talk with the mission of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), led by Mr Henning Pedersen, IFAD Country Programme Manager.

At the reception, Chairman Nguyen Huu Hoai briefly introduced situation of socio-economic development, natural condition, potentials and strengths of the province such as area for forest land to develop industrial crops, world natural heritage Phong Nha - Ke Bang national park and comprehensive traffic system, especially National road No.20 linking to Laos.

Mr Hoai also applauded great achievements made by the Decentralised Programme for Rural Poverty Reduction (DPPR) in improving the livelihood and socio-economic status of poorest households in the poor communes in Quang Binh province, gradually upgrading their living standard in a sustainable way; improving the capacity, role and responsibility of the locality with particular emphasis on the use of highly decentralised, community – driven development approaches down to commune and village levels.

Chairman expressed his thanks to IFAD for supporting Quang Binh province over the past time through DPPR project and hoped that the mission will continue helping the province to quickly carry out the third phase of the project.

Speaking at the talk, HE. Henning Pedersen, IFAD Country Programme Manager highly evaluated the results that Quang Binh PDDR project obtained in the past time and promised that the IFAD will continue assisting the province in finding financial supports from the sponsors to raise investment capital for Quang Binh DPPR project. He also hoped that the province will directed relevant departments and units in coordination with IFAD to implement well the project.
