The racing boat festival on Kien Giang River is one of the old sports activities, associated with the cultural and spiritual life of the local residents and becomes a traditional cultural character of Le Thuy people. This is the 50th time the traditional boat racing festival on Kien Giang River has been held.

The festival drew the participation of 21 male teams (divided into two groups of A and B) and 8 female teams with nearly 900 athletes from communes of Loc Thuy Phong Thuy, Lien Thuy, An Thuy, Xuan Thuy and Son Thuy, and Kien Giang town.

The race has a total length of about 24km for male racing boats and 18km for female racing boats.

From early in the morning, thousands of local people and tourists gathered along the two banks to enjoy and cheer loudly the race teams.

After a time of competition with an exciting atmosphere and solidarity spirit, the traditional boat racing festival on Kien Giang River ended successfully. As a result, Tuy Loc village (Loc Thuy commune stood the whole group most, An Xa village (Loc Thuy commune) came second and third of that of Loc An village (An Thuy commune).

Regarding the female racing boats, team of Thuong Phong village (Phong Thuy commune) won the first prize, An Xa and Tuy Loc villages (Loc Thuy commune) won the second and the third respectively.

Regarding the male racing boats, the first prize was given to Xuan Giang village (Kien Giang town), second prizes to Hoang Giang and Quy Hau and third prizes to Tuy Loc and Thuong Phong.
