East Meets West donates $41,193 project to improve kid's oral health

(Quang Binh Website) - The Provincial People's Committee on July 23 approved Decision No.1965/QD-UBND to receive a non-governmental aid from East Meets West Foundation. Accordingly, East Meets West will offer Quang Binh province $41,193 to carry out the “Community Oral Health Care” (COHC) project.

Estimated, the project will be carried out at 30 primary schools in the province from June 2014 to December 2015.

The project aims to help students under eight prevent tooth decay and other oral health problems, train and provide skills on dental treatment for school health staff; and raise awareness of dental hygiene and oral healthcare among school children.

In order to achieve the set tagerts, the project will survey and collect figures; organize training courses to improve skills on dental treatment for health staff at 30 primary schools; and provide dental equipement for the schools.

Besides, the project will also inspect and promote propaganda on oral diseases and preventive care, dental health education and infection control methods.

The Provincial People's Committee assigns the Department of Education and Training and relevant units and localities to receive and effectively use source of aid in accordance to the State's regulations.

Since 1996, East Meets West's Dental Program has assisted over 140,000 poor and disadvantaged children in Vietnam with free dental services.
