Lighting candles in tribute to heroic martyrs on the occasion of 64th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day

(Quang Binh Website) - On the occasion of 64th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day (July 27 1947 - July 27 2011), on the evening of July 26, Quang Binh province held a ceremony to offer incense and light candles in tribute to heroic martyrs at the Ba Doc martyrs’ cemetery (Bo Trach district).

Among the attendants were Mr. Luong Ngoc Binh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council; Mr. Nguyen Huu Hoai, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; members of the Standing Committee of the provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee and Fatherland Front Committee; representatives of agencies, unions and localities together with more than 1,500 members of the youth union in the province.

At the ceremony, leaders and youths laid a wreath and offered incense in commemoration of heroic martyrs and lighted candle at the tombs.

This was an opportunity for young generation to express their deep gratitude to heroic martyrs who had sacrificed their lives for the national revolutionary cause.

It was known that at the same time, incense offering and candle lighting ceremonies simultaneously took place at 81 martyrs’ cemeteries and 4 commemorative houses throughout the province to pay tribute to those who laid down their lives for the country’s independence. The events drew the participation of more than 20,000 thousands of youths in the province.
