Prime Minister visits and worked in Quang Binh province
The meeting was attended by Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung, Minister of Information and Communications Truong Minh Tuan together with representatives of ministries and central agencies.
On the side of Quang Binh province, there were Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Hoang Dang Quang, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Tran Cong Thuat, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Huu Hoai and others.
At the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee briefly reported the province's socio-economic situation in 2016 and the first months of 2017. As from the early year of 2017, in spite of meeting a lot of difficulties, the province's socio-economic situation has seen many positive changes with an 6.25% increase in GRDP. Production of fishery reached more than 27,000 tons, grew by 14.8%. Number of tourists to the province reached 1.5 million, rose by 17%; budget revenue was estimated to reach over VND1,970 billion, increased by 20.2% compared to the same period of 2016; number of poor households reduced by 2,386 (rate of poor households is 11%). The province has so far completed compensation for victims of the marine incident caused by Taiwan's Hung Nghiep Formosa steel plant with a total money of more than VND2,630 billion.
In the upcoming time, Quang Binh will continue to strengthen Party building and political system, uphold the strength of the solidarity bloc of the whole people; focus on overcoming consequences caused by the marine inccident, resuming production, solving jobs and stabilizing the people's life; speed up economic restructure, improve productivity, quality, efficiency and competitiveness.
In addition, the province will pay attention to accelerate the progress of key projects; effectively exploit tourism potential, especially cave tourism and sea tourism; strongly improve investment and business environment, improve provincial-level competitiveness ability, etc.
Speaking at the meeting, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc applauded the province for its economic growth with the recovery of seafood processing and forest protection as well as its efforts in overcoming difficulties to promote socio-economic development.
With respect to specific solutions for the province's development, Prime Minister suggested that Quang Binh develop a sesrvice-based economy, pay attention to planning and improve its investment environment.
He hopes Quang Binh province to bring a new strong wind of change for the tourism sector. With its advantages of natural conditions and cultural heritage, services and tourism should be the foundation and the road to prosperity for Quang Binh, he stressed.
Prime Minister asked the province to improve its planning quality by seeking advice from foreign experts. Improving the business climate and capacity of human resources is also necessary, he added.
He wants Quang Binh to focus local resources on developing a sustainable tourism management mechanism and building a professional strategy to promote the Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park and Son Doong Cave, which are unique to Quang Binh.
Others suggested enhancing the tourist link between Quang Binh and Da Nang and Thua Thien-Hue, while forming an industrial connection between Quang Binh and the Vung Ang Economic Zone.
