Attending the meeting was Mr. Phan Lam Phuong, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, representatives of the Provincial Standing Committee of the Party, the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council, the People's Committee and the Vietnamese Fatherland Front of Quang Binh province; Director of departments and branches and Chairman of the People's Committee of Districts and City. Permanent Vice-chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Thi Bich Lua presided over the meeting.

At the meeting, the leaders of Departments presented the reports on solutions to continuously further the poverty - alleviation Program and solve employments for laborers; implement the Action Program of the Provincial People's Committee about thrift practice and waste prevention; focus on development of human resources and improving the quality and effectiveness of education and training; report on the Program for health development and improvement of the quality of medical examination and treatment for people; solutions to speed up the breeding and fishery development and the Program for implementation of sea strategy to 2020; solution to promote the work of administrative reform in 2008 in order to improve the efficiency of the State administrative body, etc.

Addressing the meeting, Chairman Phan Lam Phuong stressed the province's target in 2008 is to continuously lure and attract the investors, an important transitional year of the socio and economic development plan in five years (2006-2010). Major task is to basically complete the main targets of economy and society, strive to achieve economic growth rate (GDP) of 12 - 12.5%. In order to achieve these objectives, the Chairman kindly requested the meeting to focus on discussion of the obtained results in 2007 and solutions which the meeting approved so as to implement effectively the Resolutions of the Provincial People's Council on the socio-economic development plan and State budget estimate in 2008. Of which, paying much attention to solutions on eliminating hunger and reducing poverty. Striving to year 2008, the poor household rate will be decreased by 3.5 - 4%, rate of unemployment in urban areas will be decreased by 2,01% in late 2008, solving employment for 28,000 laborers. Improving business and investment environment, speeding up the growth rate, raising the quality, efficiency and completitiveness of the economy. Focusing on investment in infrastructure development, furthering investment promotion activity, popularizing the potentials and strengths of the province to the domestic and foreign partners and investors. Concurrently, well settling social matters, protecting environment, promoting administrative reforms, bringing into play the efficiency of State apparatus, strengthening the work of anti-corruption, thrift practice and waste prevention and consolidating the national defence and security, social safety and order.
