2,470 dwelling houses for ethnic minority group completed in the whole province

(Quang Binh Website) - By the end of June 2008, the whole province completed 2,470 houses for ethnic minority group, achieving 90.5% against the plan.

After nearly four years of implementing Decision No.134/2004/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister on providing support in terms of production land, residential land, dwelling houses and daily-life water to poor ethnic minority households meeting with difficulties, a lot of big changes have been seen in the people's life. Especially, the program for deleting thatched cottages for the poor has gradually helped local people overcome difficulties in their life to escape poverty and stabilize the life.

Houses of the ethnic minority people completed

By the end of June 2008, the whole province completed 2,470 dwelling houses for ethnic minority group, achieving 90.5% against the plan; reclaimed 225 ha of production land and built 27 concentrated daily-life water projects. Apart from the support from central and provincial budget, the districts also took the initiative in extracting its budget to supplement and mobilize contributions of organizations, individuals and enterprises inside and outside province to build dwelling houses for the ethnic minority people. Concretely, with the support of over VND15,611 million from Program 134 of the Government to build houses and social welfare projects for the ethnic minority people, Minh Hoa district has so far completed 1,236 houses and is now striving to complete more 73 houses to hand over to the people. Le Thuy district has built and completed 473 out of 513 houses for the ethnic minority people, reaching 92% of the plan; handed over and put into use two daily-life water supply projects in Da Coi village, Ngan Thuy commune and Ho Rum village in Kim Thuy commune; provided a support of VND360 million for the Van Kieu poor ethnic minority people meeting with difficulties to develop production, reaching 92% of the plan; built and completed the An Bai - Ha Lec rural communication route and road to Cam Ly village...
