Quang Binh PPC, ADB mission: meet for the environmental development, urban infrastructure for climate change response project of Dong Hoi city

(Quang Binh Website) - On July 4, the Provincial People's Committee (PPC) held a working session with ADB mission on the urban infrastructure development and climate change adaptation project in Dong Hoi. Standing Vice Chairman of Quang Binh PPC Nguyen Xuan Quang presided over the working session.

In attendance were representatives of the Ministry of Planning and Investment, ADB mission and the relevant agencies and localities.

The urban infrastructure development and climate change adaptation project in Dong Hoi has five components, namely sewerage, collection and treatment of waste water; fresh water supply for suburban areas; development of infrastructures for climate change response; resettlement and site clearance; and strengthening institution to improve the ability and technical assistance.

It is expected that the project will start in 2014 with a total investment of USD175 million, in which ODA fund of USD157.5 million (90%) and counterpart fund of USD17.5 million (10%).
The project's objective is to reduce environmental pollution and aspects of climate change; promote comprehensive socio-economic development with objectives as urban population growth; reduce rate of the poor in rural and urban; develop and integrate suburban areas; speed up development of industry, tourism and services; and create a sound competitive environment...

Addressing the working session, PPC Standing Vice Chairman Nguyen Xuan Quang agreed with a focus on wastewater treatment, development of land fund and construction of infrastructure in Bao Ninh commune in order to make an effective use of capital source.

Vice Chairman Quang hoped that the province would continue receiving the supports from ADB and the Ministry of Planning and Investment and committed to direct the line departments and localities in project implementation as the schedule.
