Quang Binh and Lao provinces work out embellishment of national landmarks

(Quang Binh Portal) - On August 5th afternoon, the provincial People"s Committee held a meeting to summarize work of increasing and embellishing the landmark system along the borderline between Quang Binh (Vietnam) and Lao provinces of Khammouane and Savannakhet.

StandingVice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Quang Binh Provincial Steering Committee for Landmark Planting Nguyen Xuan Quang chaired the meeting. The meeting was attended by delegations of the Governmental Committee of Khammouane and Savannakhet provinces (Laos); representative of the National Border Committee (Ministry of Foreign Affairs); representatives of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council and Fatherland Front Committee and related agencies.

Vietnam and Laos shares a common boundary of 2,067km, acrossing 10 provinces of Vietnam and 10 provinces of Laos. On January 30th, 2008, the Vietnam - Lao governments agreed to coordinate implementation of the project on increasing and embellishing the landmark system between Vietnam and Laos, aiming to build a sustainable, modern and extract national landmark system, contributing to building a borderline of peace, friendship, stability and cooperation for mutual development.

Implementing the agreement between the two governments, Quang Binh proivnce in collaboration with Khammouane and Savannakhet provinces has increased and enbellished a total of 61 landmarks and 01 poles marks. The work of landmark planting on the field has been lasted from May of 2009 to September of 2013, ensuring the requirements of quality and aesthetics. With these results, Quang Binh is regarded as one of the leading provinces in completion of landmark planting.

At the meeting, delegates shared difficulties and advantages as well as drew lessons and experience in increasing and embellishing the national landmark.

On behalf of provincial leaders, Head of the Provinial Steering Committee for Landmark Planting acknowledged and praised efforts with the spirit of highest responsibility made by collectives and individuals who have overcome difficulties to excellently complete the assigned tasks.

Besides, Standing Vice Chairman also extended sincere thanks to the National Border Committee (Ministry of Foreign Affairs), ministries and central agencies for assistance in completion of landmark planting along the common borderline between Quang Binh and Lao provinces of Khammouane and Savannakhet.

In the coming time, Head of the Provinial Steering Committee for Landmark Planting asked the Border Guard of Quang Binh province in collaboration with the border guards of Khammouane and Savannakhet provinces to carry out the patrol, protect the common borderline and landmarks, periodically exchange information to build a borderline for peace, friendship, stability and cooperation for mutual development.

On this occasion, many collectives and individuals were awarded medals and certificate of merit for excellent achievements in increasing and embellishing the landmark system along the borderline between Vietnam and Laos in Quang Binh.
