VNM8P09 project sums up its operation for the 2012-2016 period

(Quang Binh Portal) - The project on strengthening health system to enhance comprehensive approach to reproductive health and family planning for the juvenile and youth in Quang Binh province (VNM8P09 project for short) on December 19th held a meeting to sum up its operation for the 2012-2016 period. The event was attended by Mr. Nguyen Xuan Quang, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People"s Committee, Head of the Steering Committee of VNM8P09 project.

The VNM8P09 project was carried out in Dong Hoi city and the districts of Le Thuy, Bo Trach and Tuyen Hoa from the end of 2012 to 2016. The project was funded by the United Nations Population Fund with a total investment of US$892,263, of which US$110,263 is corresponding capital from the Quang Binh Provincial People's Committee.

After over four years of implementation, the project has achieved the set targets. Specifically, the building capacity and planning implementation, management, communications, service supply of health system in the fields of population - reproductive health and family planning have been improved; human resources for health from provincial level to grassroot level have been enhanced.

In addition, the project has cotnributed improving awareness of information and services of reproductive health and family planning as well as methods to prevent pregnancy for local people, especially the group of juvenile and youth through diversified channels.

According to survey results of the project, 74-86% of high school students benefited from the project have directly participated in propaganda, consultancy and extracurricular activities on reproductive health and sexual health.

Speaking at the meeting, Standing Vice Chairman Nguyen Xuan Quang acknowledged and highly appreciated the remarkable results that the project has obtained in the past time.

After closing the project, Vice Chairman noted related agencies and units to continue maintaining operational efficiency on information supply, intensive consultancy and education on reproductive health for pupils and students.

With the non-public medical treatment establishments and drug retail agents, they were required to continue consulting activities, supply of servives of reproducative health, sexual health and measures to prevent pregnancy for the juvenile and youth.
