Strengthening cooperation between Quang Binh and Santiago de Cuba
(Quang Binh Portal) - Within the framework of the working program of the high-level delegation of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Cuba led by Comrade Vuong Dinh Hue, Politburo member, Chairman of the National Assembly; on the afternoon of April 22, 2023 (local time), the signing ceremony of the Letter of Intent between the two provinces of Quang Binh and Santiago de Cuba took place in the province of Santiago de Cuba.

Accordingly, in the presence of the President of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Vuong Dinh Hue and the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Cuba Esteban Lazo Hernández; Mr. Phan Manh Hung, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Binh Province and Mr. Manuel Falcón Hernández, Deputy Governor of the People's Government of Santiago de Cuba province, signed a Letter of Intent to strengthen friendship and promote cooperation in the fields for the benefit of the people of the two provinces of Quang Binh-Santiago de Cuba in particular, Vietnam-Cuba in general. The letter of intent clearly stated that the two sides wish to build and develop a friendly and cooperative relationship between Quang Binh province and Santiago de Cuba province; implement initiatives and cooperation programs in fields of mutual interest.

On that basis, the two sides agreed to assign external agencies and relevant functional agencies of the two provinces to coordinate in advising and identifying potential fields, initiatives, and cooperation programs between the two provinces for consideration, implementation; at the same time, maintain contact and exchange information to prepare for signing a Memorandum of Understanding to establish friendly and cooperative relations between the two provinces in the coming time.
On this occasion, Quang Binh province awarded the province of Santiago de Cuba US$50,000. Before the signing ceremony of the Letter of Intent, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Phan Manh Hung offered flowers to pay tribute to Fidel Castro.

With the close traditional relationship between the two countries, especially the affection of leader Fidel Castro for Quang Binh, these are very meaningful activities. Quang Binh is focusing on preparing for the 50th anniversary of leader Fidel Castro's visit to the liberated region of South Vietnam with many practical activities and believes that the signing of the Letter of Intent will open up opportunities for new cooperation between Quang Binh-Santiago de Cuba in particular, and Vietnam-Cuba in general, promotes a stronger and deeper relationship between the two sides.
