Signing ceremony to transfer Hon La Port in the first phase

(Quang Binh Website) - On August 10 2009, the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) and the Quang Binh Provincial People's Committee held a ceremony to sign a contract transferring ownership of Hon La port in the first phase.

In attendance at the ceremony, there were Mr Dinh La Thang, Member of the Central Party Committee, Chairman of the Board of Management, Petro Vietnam; Mr Luong Ngoc Binh, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Mr Phan Lam Phuong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council and People's Committee and the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee; leaders of departments and branches, units and related localities.

Under the contract, the Quang Binh Department of Transportation will hand over Hon La port along with all properties formed in the phase 1 in Quang Dong commune, Quang Trach district to the PetroVietnam Technical Service Corp (PTSC) to continue operation, exploit and invest in the following phases. The PTSC will take over rights and duties of the former owner in the first phase and benefit from local preferential polices to develop the port under the Government’s sea port develop program.

Hon La port is located on a strategic position of the North-South sea transport route, Central Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand. After its first phase of development, the port has berth, measured at 100 meters long and 25.5 meters wide, and a water depth of 9.2 meters to receive 10,000 deadweight tons (DWT) vessels.

Addressing the signing ceremony, Chairman Phan Lam Phuong highly evaluated the cooperation and development between the PTSC and departments, branches and localities, concurrently emphasized the strategic role of Hon La port in promoting the province's socio-economic development. Chairman Phuong also expressed his belief in the capacity of exploitation, operation and management of Hon La port in the first phase of the PTSC as well as the implementation of building Hon La port in the second phase and other projects invested in the port by the Petro Vietnam.

The PetroVietnam donated money to build "Great Unity" houses

On this occasion, the PetroVietnam donated VND1 billion to build "Great Unity" houses and VND2 billion to build Quang Trung secondary school, Quang Trach, Quang Binh.
