Quang Binh - Khammouane: sign cooperation agreement for 2011

(Quang Binh Website) - In the framework of working visit to Quang Binh, the senior delegation of Khammouane province (Laos) led by Mr. Khambay Damlat, Governor of Khammouane province had a talk with leaders of Quang Binh province on August 25.

Receiving and working with the delegation were Mr. Luong Ngoc Binh, Secretary of the Quang Binh Provincial Party Committee (PPC), Chairman of the provincial People's Council; Mr. Nguyen Huu Hoai, Deputy Secretary of PPC, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; members of the Standing Committee of PPC, People's Council, People's Committee and the provincial Vietnamese Fatherland Front Committee together with representatives of provincial-level agencies.

At the talk, two sides informed each other of political and socio-economic situation of each province and evaluated results of implementing the cooperation agreement signed in 2010. Over the past time, friendly relationship between Quang Binh and Khammouane has been continuously maintained and developed in the fields of economy, transport, education, health, science, tourism and etc. In 2010, import-export turnover cross Quang Binh and Khammouane border achieved US$71.6 million; goods reached 506 thousand tons and means for exit and entry achieved US$48.2 million. Two sides opened international tours to Laos, including Donghoi - Thakhet, Donghoi - Thakhet - Bolykhamxay, Donghoi - Savanakhet and Donghoi - Vientiane. So far, two provinces have carried out a survey of 44 out of 52 landmarks and placed 35 out of 52 landmarks in the fields. In 2011, with the assistance of leaders, governments and people of Khammouane, the Team No.589 of the Quang Binh Provincial Military Command has found and repatriated 50 sets of remains of martyrs to rebury at homeland.

In the forthcoming time, two sides will focus on boosting relationship between the Parties, governments and organizations of two provinces; organizing annual exchange to share experience in border, public security and military affairs; speeding up activities in investment promotion, trade and tourism; promulgating investment incentives policies and creating favorable conditions for businesses to further cooperation in production and business, especially giving top priority to the advantaged fields of each side.

Addressing the talk, Secretary of Quang Binh provincial Party Committee stressed that the cooperation between two provinces of Quang Binh and Khammouane has taken new development steps, helping to develop strengths in trade and investment cooperation. In the forthcoming time, two sides should bring into play obtained results to solve common problems to assist and cooperate together for development.
