Development plan for Hon La Economic Zone approved

(Quang Binh Website) - Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has just issued Decision No.1545/QD-TTg on approving a development plan for Hon La Economic Zone, Quang Binh province.

Accordingly, Prime Minister directed to focusing on building a modern and comprehensive infrastructure of Hon La Economic Zone. Implementing dynamic mechanism and policy to develop all forms of production and business; paying much attention to development of trade, import-export, services, tourism and sea-based economic sectors, contributing to helping Hon La Economic Zone develop strongly and effectively.

Hon La Economic Zone will be built and developed with key industries such as: thermo-electricity, shipbuilding, cement, sea transportation and seafood processing..., striving for forming main industrial products with the large range of influence.

Besides, Hon La Economic Zone will build and trade in non-tariff zone in association with investing and effectively making use of Hon La seaport together with National Highway No.1A, 12A, border gates of Cha Lo, Cau Treo and Lao Bao to form an important gateway through the East Sea of the south of Laos, the northeast of Thailand and Mekong sub-regions. After operational, Hon La Economic Zone will provide jobs for about 39-40 thousand people.

Prime Minister asked to continuously build and invest in Hon La Economic Zone; complete functional areas and expand the economic zone; invest in building new urban area, financial services, banking, securities, post and telecommunications.

With a natural land area of about 10,000 hectares, of which mainland area of about 8,900 hectares and island area of about 1,100 hectares, Hon La Economic Zone will become one of international commercial centers in Northern Central region.
