Provincial People’s Committee’s September regular meeting
In the first nine months of 2010, the province’s socio-economic situation has remained stably; some indicators have achieved fairly and had an increase in comparison with same period. The total output of fishery gained 39,428.6 tons, increased by 8.6%, achieved 95.5% of the plan. The value of industrial production achieved 2,502.8 billion VND, rose by 11.9%. Capital construction investment was 932.4 billion VND, achieved 70% of the plan, rose by 18.5%. The total retail sales of goods and services was estimated to reach 6,445.6 billion VND, increased by 24%, achieved 75% of the plan. Export turnover gained 53.4 million USD, rose by 17.2%. The total receipts from State budget were 957.1 billion VND, achieved 88.2% of the plan, increase by 22.9% as against the same period. A lot of big changes have been seen in social and cultural fields. National defence and security, social safety and order have been upheld. The people’s life has been stabilized and improved step by step.

The meeting also heard the report of overcoming the consequences of the flood in the province. Until now, the rain-triggered floods had left 61 people dead and missing, 75 others injured in the province. The total damage of infrastructure, business production, property and other losses was estimated at approximately 1,600 billion VND. At present, all departments, organizations, unions, enterprises and local authorities are trying their best to help residents overcome the flood aftermath to promptly resume the people’s life. As of 16 pm October 11, the Government donated 500 tons of instant noodles, 50,000 liters of water; other organizations provided with 10.49 billion VND and other facilities including 108.5 tons of rice, 7,103 boxes of instant noodles, 2,105 jugs of drinking water, 609 sets of blanket, 25,000 set of clothes, and 1,000 books…
Addressing the meeting, Chairman Nguyen Huu Hoai asked all departments and local authorities to focus on helping residents overcoming the consequences of the flood, especially families of flood victims, quickly repair and clean schools and medical stations to ensure social security. In the coming time, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee ordered related agencies to carry out survey to expand land fund in order to take advantage of all resources for socio-economic development; prepare for organization of 10 years of the movement “The people consolidate to build cultural life”; accelerate the completion of the master plan of Ba Don town.
