This is part of a cooperation agreement signed in Dong Hoi city on July 24 between Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) of Vietnam and Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MAF) of Lao PDR.

The event was attended by Vietnamese MARD Minister, Dr. Cao Duc Phat and MAF Lao Minister, Dr. Vilayvanh Phomkhe; Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Binh province Tran Van Tuan and relevant departments and units.

Signing cooperation agreement for 2012

At the meeting, the two Ministers have affirmed the long-time friendship and relationship between the two Ministries and the effective cooperation for the farmers’ benefits.

Under the agreement, MAF of Lao DPR and MARD of Vietnam will carry out a series of cooperation activities as noted in the Treaty of Government.

Two sides will also continue strengthening cooperation in production of high yield and quality seeds of paddy, corn, cassava and development of cattle, poultry and fishery varieties.

They will send Vietnamese experts to Laos to assist in implementing the agricultural production model.

They agreed to speed up cooperation in animal quarantine and prevention of epidemic diseases; forestry protection and development of forestry production...

This agreement is an important premise for two countries to continue effectively implementing cooperation activities in agriculture and rural development.
