PM approves master plan for development of Phong Nha - Ke Bang tourist site to 2030
Accordingly, Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park is set to meet all the criteria of a National Tourist Site by 2030 with a system of comprehensive and modern infrastructures, abundant and diversified tourism products.
The park is aiming for 3.5 million visitors in 2030, including 500,000 foreigners. Revenue from tourism at the site is expected to exceed VND 8.2 trillion 2030.
Tourist products provided to visitors will be focused on exploring cave system at the park as well as biological diversity, indigenous culture, and archaeological vestiges.
In addition to improving the current available tours for visitors to the park, the plan will also develop new tours, including a river tour across Son, Trooc and Chay rivers, an excursion to Gia Phai lake and Ben Dap mountain, ecological tours, and community-based tourism products.
In order to achieve the set targets, some main solutions will be implemented, including: announcing implementation of investment projects in the tourist site; giving top priority to source of State budget for improving technical infrastructure; focusing on investment promotion and attraction; enhancing ability for the staff of managers, tourist guides and workers through the training programmes on tourism management; strengthening application of information technology in tourism management and technological science, aiming to promote values of cave resources and deal with environmental pollutions.
In addition, the master plan will pay attention to spreading the image and trade name of the tourist site recognized as "Kingdom of caves"; building the plan for tourist products, developing new tours, strictly obeying regulations on protecting the world's natural heritage site, etc.
