 Head of the Project Steering Committee grants certificate of merit of Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee to collectives and individuals for their excellent achievements

Nha - Ke Bang National Park Region Project is cooperation between the German Government and the Vietnamese Government under a Financial Agreement and Loans signed on December 28th,2007. It is funded through the German development bank (KFW); the project owner is the People’s Committee of Quang Binh Province.

The project aims to reduce the pressure on natural resources of the Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park; enhance local livelihoods and make a close cohesion between nature conservation and socio-economic development in Phong Nha - Ke Bang Region.

During eight years of operation, by the end of 2016, the project has completed its mission. One of the most important results from the project is to improve the capacity of the community, especially increase awareness of the local people on protecting natural resources, contributing to the sustainable management of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park, a world natural heritage site.

In addition, the management capacity of the national park has been improved; necessary handbook system meeting the international standards has been built; the rangers have been provided with professional knowledges and skills as well as modern equipment, creating favorable conditions for rangers to carry out forest patrols.

Besides, the project has supported localities, communities and people in buffer zone for afforestation and regeneration with an area of over 3,600 hectares. More than 8,200 hectares of forest and forest land has been distributed to 34 villages under management; 1,000 biodiversity-friendly livehood models have been seen an initial success.

Through the propaganda and mobilization, the project has helped the local people raise their awareness of forest protection and biodiversity conservation while effective implementation of guiding, checking and monitoring the households contracted forests and forest land, contributing to enhancing the responsibility of forest owners.

Granting Certificate of merit of Director of the Project Management Board to excellent individuals

Speaking at the conference, Head of the Steering Committee for the Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park Region Project sent his sincere thanks to the German government, consulting experts, ministries and central agencies for their supports. He highly appreciated the spirit of responsibility and great efforts made by the Project Management Board and related units and localities in the effective implementation of the project.

In order to maintain the stabilization and promote the obtained achievements, Head of the Project Steering Committee asked related agencies and localities to continue making all efforts to implement appropriate solutions to preserve the natural resources of Phong Nha Ke Bang and promote sustainable development for future.

On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee granted certificate of merit to 04 collectives and 05 individuals for their excellent achievments. Director of the Management Board of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park Region Project also awarded certificate of merit to 05 collectives and 13 individuals for excellent achievments in the implementation of the project.
