The sides have regularly exchanged information, sent message for condolences and congratulation of importannt events of the nations each other. The sides have also promoted dissemination of special friendship between Vietnam and Laos in general, Quang Binh and Lao provinces in particular.

Quang Binh and Khammouane signed an agreement on border cooperation in 2015

In diplomatic activities, Quang Binh and two provinces of Khammouane and Savanakhet have agreed on regular exchange for visiting and working between senior delegations. The sides have each other informed of socio-economic development situation, national defence and sercurity, Party building, authorities, unions and people of each province as well as reviewed implementation results according to the agreements signed by the sides.

As to politics and national defence - security, there have seen a close cooperation in implementation of tasks. Concretely, from early year to now, Quang Binh province has detached 17 delegations with 296 cardes on an assignment in Lao provinces and welcomed 21 delegations with 158 cardes from Lao province to Quang Binh province. Border guards have strengthened cooperation in patrol, border protection and landmark management; and well maintained import-export and immigration activities. Particularly in 2015, Quang Binh province has completed 61 border demarcation and landmark planting along the Quang Binh - Khammouane and Quang Binh - Savanakhet shared borderline.

A lot of acknowledged results have been seen in transport, investment, trade and tourism. Transport routes have been effectively exploited, especially the route from Quang Binh to Khammouane province along the National Road 12A through the Cha Lo - Na Phau International Border Gate and along the Road 20 through Ca Roong - Noong Ma Border Gate, and the route from Quang Binh to Savanakhet province along the National Road 9B through Chut Mut - La Von area.

In the first nine months of 2015, import-export turnovers via the Cha Lo International Border Gate reached nearly US$1.59 billion with 50,700 vehicles and 377,600 people for exit and entry.

Investment promotion and tourism popularization in Quang Binh province have attracted the participation of Khammouane and Savanakhet provinces. Besides, some companies and factories of Quang Binh province have also invested construction in Khammouane province. Typically, the Quang Binh Import-Export Company has invested construction of the coal production plant in Thakhek town with a total investment of VND6 billion and capacity of 1,080 tons each year.

In the field of education and training, Quang Binh province has received and supported expenditures for 18 students of Khammouane province and 14 students of Savanakhet province. The province has also supported Khammouane province to build the vocational technical school according an agreement inked by two provinces.

In order to strengthen cooperative relationship in the coming time, Quang Binh province and provinces of Khammouane and Savanakhet continue stepping up regular exchanges between senior delegations on border, military and secuirty. Quang Binh will coordinate with Savanakhet province to build some infrastructure projects; support to build a bonded warehouse and oil pipeline from Hon La port (Quang Binh) to Khammouane province; accelerate the project implementation to deal with free migration issues and unregistered marriages in border areas between Vietnam and Laos; create favorable conditions for students of Khammouane, Savanakhet and provinces of Laos to study in Quang Binh.
