In 2008, in spite of the affection of natural disaster, the increase of inflation, high consumption price index (CPI), especially construction materials, petrol and food, the province's socio-economic situation has remained high growth rate. Concretely, the growth rate in GDP achieved 11.5% (yearly plan 12-12.5%); agro-forestry-fishery production value increased 4.5% (yearly plan 5-5.5%); industrial production value was estimated at VND2,710 billion, increased 21.6% (plan 20-21%); export turnover was estimated at US$60 million, reached 109.1% of the plan, increased 2.6% against the year 2007; budget receipts reached VND850 billion, increased 17% compared with the same period. A lot of big changes have been seen in cultural and social fields. Rate of poor household decreased by 4% compared with the year 2007; solving jobs for 2.8 thousand laborers, reached 100% of the plan.

At the meeting, delegates highly agreed with the socio-economic development plan of 2009. That was to continue to curb inflation and stabilize macroeconomics, striving to reach high and sustainable economic growth rate. In 2009, striving to reach economic growth rate of about 11-12%; industrial production value increases about 18-18.5%; export achieves US$65 million, increasing 8.3% against the year 2008; the total budget receipts in provincial area achieves VND896 billion; rate of poor households decreases 4.0-4.5% compared with the year 2008...

Giving a closing speech, Chairman Phan Lam Phuong agreed with contents discussed in the meeting and stressed that in order to reach set targets and plans, the province should focus on mobilizing all resources to expand and develop production and business; encourage and create favorable conditions for foreign and domestic enterprises as well as economic sectors to invest in advantage fields. He also asked departments and branches to pay much attention to comprehensively implement solutions on inflation curb, stabilization of macroeconomics, social security and sustainable development; promote administrative reform, work of master plan and investment in capital construction, ensuring the quality and scheduled time.
