From early year to now, Quang Binh University has remained cooperative relations with Thailand University to organize short-term training courses in Vietnamese and learn about Vietnam culture for 23 students of Rajabhat Sakon Nakhon University; received 01 student of the Rahabhat Mahasarakham for practice; organized a program to exchange and visit Nakhon Ratchasima Rajabhat University (Thailand); appointed students to Thailand universities to study. At present, total number of Lao students who are studying in Quang Binh are nearly 600 students.

In 2017, Quang Binh attended a series of cultural activities to mark the second Cultural, Sports and Tourism Exchange Festival for Vietnam – Laos border areas with the aim of spreading potential and strength of the province in the cause of renovation, integration and development to domestic and foreign friends; actively promoted the opening of first international flight between Dong Hoi (Quang Binh) and Chiang Mai (Thailand) in order to popularise tourism infrastructure and destinations of Quang Binh in the Kingdom of Thailand; encouraged international travel enterprises to strengthen cooperation with tourism enterprises between nine provinces of three countries.

In addition, the province organized a delegation to attend a trade fair between the border provinces in 2017; received and worked with the enterprise delegations to Quang Binh province for seeking more opportunities, promoting business, trade and tourism, expanding cooperative relations between enterprise community of nine provinces of three countries.

At present, the road No.12A and Cha Lo international border gate are the important routes to convey goods from the Thailand northern provinces and the Lao Central provinces to Vietnam. In the first six months of 2017, import-export turnover was estimated to reach USD540 billion, including USD16.8 million for export, USD249.1 million for import, USD263 million for transit and USD1.1 million for goods in bonded warehouse.There were 87,000 vehicles for exit and entry and 233.6 people for entry.

Besides, the province has also speeded up investment promotion and called upon the projects in the field of tourism development such as construction of restaurants, hotels and recreational centers. At present, 13 projects with a total capital of VND318 billion have registered investment in Cha Lo border gate economic zone; 03 projects of restaurant, hotel and leisure services have been put into operation, meeting the demands for tourists via the border gate.

However, cooperation between the provinces has still seen some restrictions such as number of enterprises between the provinces for cooperation and investment has been low; the enterprises have not yet promoted potential and strengths of each province; collaboration in agriculture, science - technology between the provinces have not yet been high, etc.

In order to promote cooperative efficiency between the provinces of three countries of Vietnam - Laos and Thailand sharing the road No.8 and No.12, in the upcoming time, three countries continuously strengthens cooperation and training exchange of teachers and students with a focus on improving professional skills of Vietnamese, Lao and Thai language; encourages the provinces to train and develop source of laborers with high qualifications; creates conditions for enterprises to attend meetings, forums, investment and trade promotion activities of the province, etc.
