Provincial People's Committee works with delegation of the Working Committee for foreign non-governmental organizations

(Quang Binh Portal) - The Provincial People"s Committee on June 20th had a meeting with the delegation of the Working Committee for foreign non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Vice Chairman of the Provincial People"s Committee Tran Tien Dung presided over the meeting.

With the policy of renovation and international integration, the attraction of foreign non-governmental aids has been strengthened in the 2013-2017 period. According to statistics, at present, the province has more than 50 foreign NGOs from such countries as US, UK, South Korea, France, Japan, Taiwan, Netherlands with 126 aid programs and projects (mainly in the fields of poverty alleviation, disaster reducation, education, vocational training, health, environmental protection, community development, etc.). The total committed capital reached nearly USD13.5 million and total disbursed capital of foreign NGOs reached more than USD15.1 million. The aid programs and projects have mainly carried out in remote and far-flung areas, prioritized fields and orientations for socio-economic development of the province.

At the meeting, delegates discussed some difficulties in granting, adding and extending license of operation to the foreign NGOs as well as executing operational regulations of foreign non-governmental bodies, etc.

In addition, delegates also asked the delegation to provide more information on foreign NGOs; create more opportunities for the province to learn about foreign NGOs and methods for attraction of foreign non-governmental aids.

Speaking at the meeting, representatives of the Working Committee for foreign non-governmental organizations highly appreciated Quang Binh province in management of foreign NGOs in the past time. In the coming time, the Working Committee will strengthen information exchanges on new partners and organizations, assist the province in propaganda, training on negotiating skills for aid mobilization from foreign non-governmental organziations.

On behalf of provincial leader, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee expressed his hope that in the coming time, the Working Committee for foreign non-governmental organizations will continue help the province mobilize the potential organizations to conduct aid programs and projects in the locality.
