Quang Binh I wind power plant project

QUANG BINH I WIND POWER PLANT PROJECT

1. Project location

Hai Ninh commune, Quang Ninh district, Quang Binh province

2. Purpose of the project

Build Quang Binh wind power plant, creating additional electricity source to be connected with the national electricity grid, contributing to ensuring the demands of electrical energy for socio-economic development in Vietnam and in the region.

3. Scale and contents of the project

- Total area for the project: 1,700 ha

- Estimated capacity: 200 MW

- Total output of generated power: 500,000 MWh/year

4. Total estimated investment capital

US$ 400 million

5. Implementation duration

50 years

6. Form of investment

Joint venture with the Vietnam Construction Materials Co., Ltd

7. Expected effectiveness of the project

- High potential for bring profits for investors.

- Strengthening the development and cooperation relationship with investors

8. Natural conditions and current situations

Topography:

- Space area is approximately ~ 1,700 ha of flat land, without existing construction, to be suitable for development of concentrated wind farm with a high capacity of ≥ 200 MW.

- Vegetation: poor, only a small area covered with 2 main species: Casuarina and Eucalyptus.

Geology:

The whole projected area for wind power plant is natural sandy soil, so specific surveys are required to propose solutions for transportation and

construction of foundations for “super-power and super-weight” equipment.

Existing technical infrastructure:

-  Electricity grid of 22kV near the construction (used during construction duration).

- With rate of low land coverage (≤ 6% of survey area for project preparation) and turbine equipment with the lowest point of propellers ≥ 40 m, the wind power plants completely have no effects on the vegetation, animal raising or cultivation, etc. Development of wind power plant is in line with land use planning, increasing the effectiveness of using land funds in localities.
